Thoughs on Herman Cain suspending campain
I will first say that I was sad to hear that Cain was bowing out, at least for now. Cain is a non politician politician. I'm not saying that we need him on capital hill but we definitely need more people like him leading our country and making the tough decisions in Washington. Cain is very plane spoken. When most politicians speak, I find myself thinking "I understand what you are wanting to accomplish but would you please tell me HOW!!" With Cain, he always explains what his plan is. The first thing that really caught my attention with Cain was when he stated he would approach problems in Washington as he did as a CEO. First he said he would figure out what the problem was. Second he said he would get with his advisers and work to find a solution to the problem. This next one is what really interested me. He said third, he would educate the public on the solution to the problem and then put it to action. I really liked the part about educating the public because it goes back to what I previously said about HOW our politicians were going to fix the problems facing our country.
Cain has his solution for our pile of junk tax code that we have. It may not be a perfect solution but I believe it is on the right track for the answer that is best for all of us. It made it so there were no loop holes and everyone had to pay taxes. With his plan, there are no capital gains or any of the other income definitions the rich use to pay less taxes, there is only personal income and corporate income. All income that anyone in this country has falls into these two categories and both pay equal percentages. The other part of his plan was a sales tax. This is the part that a lot of people had a problem with. In his plan, everyone would pay a flat 9% sales tax. Yes, not many of us would like to pay a sales tax but we all already do. There are also a lot of taxes that a lot of us aren't aware of that would go away if this plan was put into place. Do you know how many hidden taxes are included when you buy a car? How about your phone bill? All of these would go away and the bottom line you would pay for these would go down.
The point with this is that we need more people like Cain running our country. People who have ideas that are unconventional. People who don't give speeches that with vague content where you are left thinking it was a great speech but what the hell did they mean?!?! Hopefully with the interest and support Cain had sparked, more candidates will start being more like that and less of the same old same old we have seen by both parties for decades.

I was also fond of his straight-to-the-point, matter-of-factness. While people questioned his plans, he at least came up with stuff instead of simply stating an issue as being a problem and needing fixed.
ReplyDeleteAs for what did him in, it's kind of a shame. His issues are nothing new to politicians and many members of Congress as well as former Presidents are/were involved in adulterous encounters. People will argue that questions his character, but to me the character of many on Capitol Hill today is suspect.
@Thomas Paine I agree he was very straight to the point with his views. I wished there were more politicians like that running and holding office on both sides of the aisle. That is the kind of change we need on the hill. It is a shame that he left the campaign on those kind of circumstances, but I guess he made the choice to not precede because of his family and I respect that. I don't believe that is the last we have seen of Herman Cain in politics. Thank you for visiting my page and commenting. Subscribe to my page if you want to keep up with my future posts.
